The Wellington Division offers a wide range of support

minimising the impact of cancer on our community through support, education and research
:: Can Support Programme ::

The CanSupport Programme offers workshops and support groups to help people cope with cancer.This programme is for people who:

  • are currently in treatment
  • or have an active cancer
  • or have received treatment for cancer within the last three years
  • or are close family members of cancer patients

Workshops are run over four to six weeks and most of them are free. Topics may include:

  • Coping with the impact of a cancer diagnosis and the effect this has on relationships, work and lifestyles
  • Nutrition
  • Coping with treatment
  • Understanding radiotherapy and chemotherapy
  • Coping with the fear of recurrence

We also offer occasional classes in:

Relaxation techniques Creative visualisation Self-hypnosis Writing workshops
Yoga Tai Chi Art therapy Hydrotherapy exercise
