| For individual taxpayers each financial year
ends on the 31st March. If you have given any donations of $5 or more to the Cancer
Society in one tax year and you have kept the receipts, you can claim a tax rebate.
To calculate your rebate, add up all your donations to approved organisations.
If the total amount you have donated this year is:
- less than $1500, divide the total by 3 (33 and a 1/3 cent in the dollar).
- $1500 or more, your rebate is $500. $500 is the maximum rebate you can claim.
Your partner may claim a rebate of up to $500 for donations you have made over
$1500, but only if they have a taxable income, as Inland Revenue cannot refund
the rebate.
The tax rules mean that every time you give to the Cancer Society you will
get a third of your donation back in tax rebate (maximum $500). As a non-government
funded charity the Cancer Society totally relies on your generosity and we thank
you for your donation. |
