Welcome to CancerChatNZ! - The Chat Room for people who want to 'talk' about their experiences of cancer.

What is 'CancerChatNZ'?

The Cancer Society of New Zealand, Wellington Division's chat room, facilitating information sharing and support between people touched by cancer.

Who can use it?

CancerChatNZ can be used by anyone who has internet access who has a question or information to share anonymously with other CancerChatNZ users. First though you must register below as a First Time User so we can add you to the system for ongoing communications.

Is it moderated and controlled?

Yes it is. All posted messages are viewed by our moderators to ensure that CancerChatNZ is provided as a supportive communication forum.

Do posted messages represent the views of the Cancer Society of New Zealand?

No, we merely offer a forum to facilitate information sharing and support.

Are there rules to comply with when using CancerChatNZ?

Yes please! We ask that you:

  • Do not give your full name or mailing details
  • Do not give out the names of health care professionals
  • Do not encourage or promote Alternative Therapies in preference to mainstream/conventional therapies.
    The Cancer Society of New Zealand Wellington Division does not promote the use of alternative therapies for the treatment of cancer
  • Do not advertise or promote products or services as CancerChatNZ is not to be used as a forum for such solicitation. Also that you
  • Do share your positive and less positive experiences of your own cancer journey and/or that of family members/friends so that others may derive comfort from knowing that they are not alone in their experience
  • Do give us feedback on CancerChatNZ and how/if it has helped you at all
  • Do call the Cancer Information Helpline on 0800 800 426 to talk with a Nurse if you would like to discuss specific therapies/drugs.
